My thoughts on the Peter Capaldi

I’m sure most of you have heard that Peter Capaldi is our new Doctor and he’s already done a slamming job in the episodes we’ve seen so far. Most people at my school (including annoying teenage girls who only watch Doctor Who for the enjoyment of eye candy) have been complaining about Capaldi a lot. I, on the other hand, love him. I feel like as soon as we get attached to one Doctor it’s time to bring another in. I loved Nine, Ten, and Eleven, although I wish Nine got another season, and I already love Twelve so I know this is gonna be great.

In past Doctor’s we’ve got a combination of goofy, good looks, youth, and human nature. With Capaldi, he’s got a dry sense of humor and more alien in him. He seems right now that he’s just trying to figure himself out. He’s also older and doesn’t necessarily have incredible good looks. This season is going to be a bit more dark and mysterious which I was waiting for; hopefully less heartbreaking, too. (I doubt it since Moffat has written most of the episodes this season)

Overall, I am very happy about Peter and hope others do, also.

The Issue with “Equality”

Equality is such a hard, much discussed topic anymore. Sorry, correction, homosexuality is such a hard, much discussed topic. Gay marriage, gay rights, etc.  When you look up the definition of the word “equality” this is what you get:

The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.

How come we only use the word equality when referring to homosexuals or people of another race? We never hear equality for Christians or Muslims do we? No, we don’t. That’s just because some people are so narrow minded about their beliefs that they think only what they believe should be allowed. People have made the word equality just for one group of people. Which I find completely wrong.

Now if someone was to ask me if I believed in equality what do you think they mean? Equal rights for homosexuals? Or, equal rights for someone of another race? I can assure they are most definitely not asking me if I believe Christians, Buddhists, or Muslims should have just as many rights as the previous people. I don’t support gay marriage or anything along those lines, but neither do I feel hatred toward someone who does.

I have gotten into plenty of disagreements between myself and others over this topic. In most cases, I was asked for my opinion, gave it, and people got mad. Then I turn around and they’re cursing God or wronging me for my beliefs. I can stick up for it, but it never stops them. Pretty much, as I’ve said before in previous posts, don’t you dare say anything negative about a homosexual, but it’s okay if they turn around and put me down for my beliefs.

I just think people should be more careful with the use of the word equality. I hope I opened someone’s eyes. Have a good day!

“I have a TARDIS.”

I thought I’d share with you how my day was turned from “eh” to “I’m literally floating on air.”

Today we had to meet a friend of ours out in town and I decided to bring a book considering her and my mother would talk about things that absolutely bore me. I decided to bring my book full of Doctor Who quotes. I usually intend on finding a corner, sitting in it, and reading until someone called me back to Earth. But there wasn’t any corner. Well, except the one with the weird dude sitting in it. Another story, another day.

Anyway, I sat. I read, until behold someone had called me back, but it was far too early. I looked up to see a guy. A literal, living organism from the male specimen standing before me. He was actually quite attractive, well dressed, curly hair and such. Adorable.

I attempted to hide my surprise considering most guys run when I get the courage to talk to them which is hardly ever, but the one time I did they ran. He was looking at me, then he turned to my book.

“Is that a Doctor Who book?” He asked. I nodded, not saying anything. I was still quite dumbfounded.
“What’s it called?” He asked again. I showed him the book cover unable to form words. He nodded approvingly. I saw him look around as if he was afraid someone was watching. AND I KID YOU NOT he whispered, “I have a TARDIS.”

I literally died, right then and there. I ended up giggling like the weirdest creature. Perhaps, a very happy Ood. He just grinned and looked at me. He literally looked at me. You know how in books when a female character is the narrator she says, “He studied me.”?

I think that’s what this dude was doing. So after he had whispered I gathered the words to say, “No way.” He just nodded and continued grinning.
“That’s totally cool,” I said.
“It’s a real TARDIS.”
“That’s nice,” I reply. He apologized that he had to go somewhere and ran off. After he left I was quite disappointed considering I thought maybe he was into me or something. HE CAME BACK.
Whipping out his phone, he scrolled through all these photos of an actual TARDIS he built himself. I was impressed and just very happy. I was about to ask him his name, but he said he had to leave for good and ran out the door.
Sadly, I did not get a name or a number. I keep kicking myself for not asking, but oh well. It still made my day.

Fandom Life

fandom

Fandom life can indeed be crazy, but yet, there’s something spectacular about being involved in one. You have your internet friends, your followers, and your much worked on blog. It’s an exhilarating feeling when someone likes your post about Doctor Who or Sherlock etc. It’s just great.

Although, sometimes it can be quite stressful. I like to kind of laugh at how stressful it is. I’ve been in quite a few fandoms who have has serious diversity and therefore, TONS of arguments. Of course, I’m the type of person who hates to see it, so I’m the one commenting and begging everyone to just stop and enjoy the beauty that is Benedict Cumberbatch, (True story, long story, Another day, another post.)

A lot of fandoms are separated by different ships, love for different characters, even hatred for different characters. Like, I love Doctor Who but I just could NOT stand Martha. She was so annoying like, “Oh my word, Doctor. You never pay me any attention.” The whole time I’m banging my head against the wall praying some Dalek exterminates her. It didn’t happen.

*SHE LEFT THE DOCTOR. WHO LEAVES THE DOCTOR. APPARENTLY MARTHA DOES.*

Sorry, I feel strongly about this. Anyway although fandom life is diverse, stressful, and sometimes time consuming it is all worth it.
